Migraine Work Accommodations: Requests That Make Work More Manageable

Work accommodations are often most useful when they describe what helps you work effectively: a lower-glare space, flexible start time, remote work on flagged days, or protected focus blocks. You do not need to apologize for a health need.

Prepare a clear request

  • Name the work barrier, such as glare, noise, or unpredictable symptoms
  • Suggest a practical adjustment
  • Track which adjustment helped and when
  • Keep a record of follow-up conversations

Your migraine history can make a clinician conversation and a work request more concrete.
